One last visit to the National Building Museum to see these incredible, ancient drawings made for an architect at study, seemingly searching for the code to the classical architecture of the Greeks and Romans. His measurements and notes, sometimes tentative and exploratory lines, variety of drawing types on a page are evocative. At the National Building Museum exhibit, material listed for these drawings listed not only the drawing surface, all of the inks, but also the tools (compass, etc.) To walk your eye through these spaces, rooms...

Wearing its Structure on its Facade
I was struck by this building last night, somewhere between ice skating at the National Sculpture Garden and tapas (7th Street NW between D and E). It's a drawing that turns from elevation to section. It's what if the section sliced through this building but not its neighbors. NEW YEAR 2011
I celebrated the NEW YEAR in NEW York City. I thought about my New Year's Resolutions. I made one: to LEARN LETTERPRESS. Then the deadlines and travels came in waves and my to-do list overwhelmed my perspective a bit. This week I am settling in, surrounded by snow, to work and to envision this year in work. Here are some images that inspire my percolating ideas:
ANALYTIQUE
CORRESPONDENCE & TYPOGRAPHY
MAPS THAT INCORPORATE VIEWS & ARCHITECTURAL DRAWINGS
ANALYTIQUE
So, in addition to learning the art of LETTERPRESS, I want to make Architectural and Map Drawings that combine and shift views, continuing the From the Birds Eye series to include Streetscapes and Cityscapes in: Savannah, Brooklyn, Alexandria, Georgetown, Detroit, Maine, and Frederick MD. I want to make Geneological Charts and Drawings. I want to use Typography in unique ways to design Stationery. I am ready to start the NEW YEAR!
