I found this little gem of a streetscape in Newberry, South Carolina yesterday, on the drive home from a super fantastic mountain getaway. We stopped for lunch, lured by the idea of a small town diner and local fare. A banner strung over Main Street approaching downtown encouraged us to "spend our stimulus dollars in downtown Newberry." We eyed each storefront hopefully, but not one was open and most were vacant.
