Along the Way to New Orleans: Arkansas, Louisiana

This morning Afton and I left Little Rock - New Orleans-bound! We drove Highway 65 through cotton fields and small towns of Arkansas and Louisiana, toward Natchez, on the Mississippi River.I was trying to capture the quintessential small white church while driving - but was eclipsed by this big fellow on the road.
one of many pecan groves (and not the most picturesque of them)

In Talullah, Louisiana (below) we looked for lunch, to no avail. This may be the most forlorn streetscape I have ever seen. The blocks of empty or dilapidated shopfronts extended for almost a mile along the railroad tracks, on either side of the lovely Courthouse Square.click larger
